Christmas and New Year
During Christmas itself you will find many places closed. However, Amsterdam is very much alive with a Christmas atmosphere during the entire holiday season. Big parties are held on Dam Square and Nieuwmarkt on New Years Eve. On the Nieuwmarkt it is the Chinese community that will set off an impressive firework display.
